Expanding on the powerful capabilities of the Ronin series, DJI RS 3 Pro is an advanced and comprehensive camera expansion platform that empowers videographers and provides coordinated shooting solutions for professional teams. With DJI RS 3 Pro, everything is within your reach.
Handle large payloads
The RS 3 Pro uses extended carbon fiber axis arms to allow for more balance headroom for professional cameras, making it perfect for cameras like the Sony FX6 or Canon C70 with 24-70mm F2.8 lenses, expanding your creative possibilities.
The new extended bottom quick release plate [1] allows for more stable camera mounting and is convenient for installing a lens mount, ensuring a more secure setup.
To facilitate balancing, an adjustment knob has been added for the tilt axis, to move the camera forward or backward with greater precision, even to the millimeter. Thanks to Teflon® coated components, the RS 3 Pro can be balanced with less friction and less resistance, even when mounting the heaviest cameras.
Automated axis locks
RS 3 lets you shoot instantly. When the gimbal is off, simply hold down the power button and the 3 axes will unlock while the gimbal automatically expands, allowing you to start shooting in seconds. Press the power button once and the axes will automatically lock into rest mode, making your travel and commuting much more efficient. Hold down the power button and the gimbal will automatically fold and lock.
High load capacity
The optimized structural design of the RS 3 Pro ensures that its weight remains just 1.5kg/3.3lb (the same as the RS 2, including the stabilizer, handle with integrated battery and double-layer quick release plates), while its load capacity is 4.5kg/10lb, offering powerful support in a lightweight body.
Wireless shutter control
Equipped with Dual-Mode Bluetooth technology, the RS 3 Pro is able to provide efficient and reliable wireless shutter control. [2] After initial Bluetooth pairing, you can control video recording and photo shooting simply by pressing the shutter button on the stabilizer. A previously paired camera will automatically reconnect, saving you time on subsequent uses.
Instant mode selection
By simply sliding the new stabilization mode selector, you can toggle between Pan Follow, Pan Flip, Tilt Follow and FPV modes. Additionally, the FPV mode selection is customizable to 360 3D Roll, Portrait or Custom, allowing you to adjust your equipment and start filming quickly.
Bigger is better
A large, built-in 1.8-inch color OLED touchscreen increases the screen size by 28% over the RS 2, making it incredibly convenient to set parameters, check shooting status, and frame tracked subjects. [3] And with a redesigned user interface, every setting is more intuitive and precise. The OLED screen also offers higher brightness than the RS 2's LCD screen, ensuring better viewing outdoors and lower power consumption.
Elegant carbon fiber structure
The arms on the RS 3 Pro are made from layered sheets of uncut carbon fiber, just like the Ronin 2. This makes it lighter and stronger than the articulating carbon fiber material used on the RS 2, increasing rigidity and reducing weight to cope with even more demanding shooting scenarios.
The new evolution of RS stabilization
Powered by the 3rd generation of RS stabilization algorithms, RS 3 Pro delivers significantly improved stability in any scenario. Lab sampling data shows that RS 3 Pro provides a 20% increase in stability over RS 2, effortlessly handling low-angle shots, fast-moving scenarios, or alternating between high and low positions.
Super smooth results
When SuperSmooth mode is enabled, the RS 3 Pro increases motor torque to further enhance stabilization, delivering stable footage even in fast-moving scenarios or when using lenses with a 100mm equivalent focal length.
LiDAR Support
To facilitate focusing, Ronin 4D's LiDAR focusing technology is now applied to RS 3 Pro. The new LiDAR Distance Finder (RS) can project 43,200 detection points within a distance of 14 meters. [4] It also features a built-in camera with a 30mm equivalent focal length and a wide FOV of 70°, meeting the focusing needs of most scenarios.
Compared to conventional focusing technology, the LiDAR focusing system does not need to rely on the surface structure of the subject. This is especially useful in low-light environments or complicated scenarios with multiple subjects and results in exceptionally stable focusing.
It supports both Wide Mode and Spot Mode. In Wide Mode, the rangefinder automatically detects the subject and follows the focus. In Spot Mode, users can manually frame or tap the subject to focus.
New generation focus motor
The new-generation DJI RS (2022) Focus Motor provides three times more torque (up to 1 N m) and reduces noise by 50%. This provides a smoother focusing experience and reduces the effect on audio recording. It also adopts a quick-release structure that allows for easy assembly without tools, ensuring faster use.
Enable cinematic autofocus
Pairing the LiDAR Distance Sensor with the new Focus Motor also enables cinematic autofocus on manual lenses. A single press of the M button on the gimbal lets you quickly switch between manual and autofocus to best suit your needs, all without effort.
After calibrating manual lenses, you can store several lens calibration profiles in the focus motor, so you don't have to recalibrate them each time you use them. Some cinema lenses can also be connected directly to the focus motor, enabling them to autofocus without the need for calibration.
Users can also directly connect the LiDAR Distance Sensor and Focus Motor to the camera and operate independently of the gimbal, enabling autofocus on manual lenses and with an external battery.
ActiveTrack Pro
Ronin Series tracking has never been more accurate or responsive. The next-generation ActiveTrack Pro can read images directly from the LiDAR Range Finder’s built-in camera, without the need for the Ronin Image Transmitter (formerly known as the Ronin RavenEye Image Transmitter). The LiDAR Range Finder also features a proprietary chip identical to the one in Ronin 4D, increasing ActiveTrack Pro’s processing power by over 60 times compared to ActiveTrack 3.0 on the Ronin Image Transmitter.
When using ActiveTrack Pro, you can directly track or frame your subject on the RS 3 Pro's OLED touchscreen. [7] Live feed latency is reduced to just 40ms, 60% less than the Ronin Image Transmitter, enabling fast tracking even when your subject is moving quickly. With a neural network accelerator, it can identify and track subjects even when they are numerous and far away.
Quick installation
RS 3 Pro can pair with the all-new DJI Transmission to provide a customized shooting solution. The DJI Video Transmitter can be powered directly by RS 3 Pro and conveniently mounts to the bottom via the hot shoe adapter, eliminating the need for an additional battery and reducing the weight for manual installation.
Long-range wireless transmission
O3 Pro video transmission supports up to 6km video and audio transmission distance with ultra-low latency, along with automatic frequency hopping between 2.4GHz, 5.8GHz and DFS bands, providing crews with an extraordinarily stable and interference-free remote monitoring experience.
Coordinated shooting
The High Brightness Remote Monitor supports 1080p/60fps live feed and one transmitter with multiple receivers. In Control Mode,
Two receivers can be used simultaneously to collaboratively control the RS 3 Pro's gimbal, focus and camera parameters, ensuring an integrated reception, monitoring and control experience.
Stabilizer and focus control
The High-Brightness Remote Monitor can be used with the Ronin 4D Grips, DJI Master Wheels or DJI Force Pro to control the stabilizer and focus with precision.
It also features a built-in gyro sensor that can turn the remote monitor into a standalone motion controller for the RS 3 Pro, without any additional accessories and for achieving more complex camera movements from a moving vehicle or with a jib.
Seamless wireless camera control
When RS 3 Pro is mounted on supports such as jibs, cable cams or vehicle suction cup mounts, Mirror Control Mode unlocks seamless wireless control from anywhere on set. This mode enables direct control of key menu operations for Sony mirrorless cameras via a remote monitor, all without having to detach the camera.
Vast expandability
With two RSA/NATO ports and a battery port, the RS 3 Pro can be connected to various accessories such as the Twist Grip, Control Grip, and the new DJI Handle Grip to flexibly meet a variety of shooting needs.
Solutions for every scenario
With the DJI RS SDK protocol, third-party manufacturers and individual developers can now create customized solutions for the RS 3 Pro. Whether shooting from a moving vehicle, with a jib or Steadicam, with a cable cam or slider, the RS 3 Pro offers you complete shooting solutions and greater creative possibilities.
Ronin Image Transmitter
RS 3 Pro supports two official video transmission solutions. In addition to DJI Transmission, the Ronin Image Transmitter provides HD live feeds, remote camera and gimbal control, ActiveTrack 3.0, Force Mobile, and more, providing integrated monitoring and control for independent videographers and small crews.
New Handle Grip
The redesigned Handle Grip folds flat for convenient storage and comes with a new ergonomic grip to make it quick and easy to set up and select Briefcase mode. The built-in hot shoe mount and 1/4"-20 mounting holes can be connected to external monitors to assist with shooting, making low-angle camera movements more intuitive.
